Cruise trends we can expect to see In 2022

2021 has been another funny old year, but what about 2022? Here are some of the trends you can expect in 2022.
Tech taking centre-stage.
It's been trickling in, but 2022 will firmly see the use of technology reach another level. Things which were a novelty, are now the standard. Apps pretty much make your cruise journey effortless; you can check the capacity at your favourite dining venue, track your kids and book everything you need. You can even 'Shake for Champagne' on Virgin Voyages and have a bottle of fizz delievered to you anywhere onboard! E-musters are becoming more popular to avoid large crowds gathering. One thing is for sure - you won't want to forget your charger.
Small ships & expeditions will be popular.
Despite all the fantastic steps cruise lines have taken to keep everyone covid secure, some people are choosing to pick smaller ships and those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that expedition ships can offer. People are keen to stay off-the-beaten-track.
Gen-Z make themselves known.
While 20-something Gen Xers and Millennials were happy to backpack and see the world that way, the 'Instagram age' look to online influencers to seek out aspirational travel and are happy to pay for premium experiences that will look great in a TikTok video. With the great value cruising can offer, combined with the opportunity to visit several destinations in one trip, cruising is an attractive prospect for Gen-Z.
Shorter sailings.
People just want to get away now and want to maximise their annual leave by taking lots of short trips, alongside one or two big ones. Whilst a lot of short cruises were thrust upon us a direct result of the pandemic, their popularity has grown, especially for small groups, so expect to see them continue.
